Riviere necklaces were very popular in the 18th century in England and again in the late 19th century ,the stones were similar size and stones, amethyst being very popular.The stones were set by hand in metal collets requiring tremendous skill! these necklaces are Anna Wintour’s favorite necklace, head of American Vogue.
